Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night is set to hit theaters in the US and Canada next month, December 3rd, and then Australia and New Zealand December 9th. It's also coming to the United Kingdom and Ireland, but no word yet on a release date for those locations.
Sword Art Online the Movie - Progressive - Aria of a Starless Night, which is based upon the original story from Reki Kawahara (Dengeki Bunko), takes fans back to the beginning of the saga where players find themselves trapped inside the world's first VRMMORPG, Sword Art Online, and unable to leave the game. The story follows Asuna and her struggles to cope with the new realities of her virtual world and her fateful encounter with Kirito. The film also introduces us to Mito, a new and mysterious character that nobody seems to know.
The retelling of the Sword Art Online "Aincrad" arc, Sword Art Online Progressive, was written by Reki Kawahara and first published in 2012. The English version of the series is published by Yen Press. It now includes seven volumes, with each volume covering a single floor in Sword Art Online. Aria of a Starless Night consists of the events on Floor 1.
