Production company Supermarché recently posted an update on their website which declares that a live-action movie based on the classic video game series Mega Man is in the works for the Netflix streaming service.
Studios have tried and failed to get an officially licensed Mega Man movie off the ground multiple times now. 20th Century Fox was working on one in collaboration with Capcom and Chernin Entertainment prior to being acquired by The Walt Disney Company. Production of the film was put into turnaround by Disney and the film rights wound up at Netflix.
Now it turns out that Chernin Entertainment are once again at work on a live-action Mega Man movie, this time for the popular streaming platform.
The aforementioned Supermarché update declares the following (via Gamefragger): "Henry [Joost], Rel [Schulman], and their in-house producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate. Features in the works include: an adaptation of Capcom’s MEGA MAN for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing."
Netflix and Capcom are yet to provide an official statement or announce anything in regards to this supposed live-action Mega Man movie. We can only hope that this new attempt at making a Mega Man movie doesn't get prematurely cancelled.
