At a special press conference in Japan last night, Paramount, director Rupert Sanders and lead actress Scarlett Johansson debuted the first full trailer for the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie.

The trailer comes after Paramount began releasing a series of short teasers and TV spots.

From the first trailer, it's very clear that the production is looking to the original '95 anime film for inspiration, rather than the manga series (which has slight differences) or the two anime sereis from the early 2000's.

Ghost in the Shell opens in US theaters on March 31, 2017.

OFFICIAL MOVIE SYNOPSIS:  Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, "GHOST IN THE SHELL" follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic¹s advancements in cyber technology.
