Keean Johnson (Nashville), is the latest cast member for Alita: Battle Angel. He joins the already stellar cast that features the likes of Christoph Waltz, Jackie Earl Haley and Ed Skrein. Johnson's character, Hugo, is Alita's (played by Rosa Salazar) right hand man. This part was highly coveted for 20th Century Fox's high budget film that boasts James Cameron (producer) and Rober Rodriguez (Director).
"The studio did at least two rounds of testing for the part, all of them taking place in Rodriguez’s studio facility in Austin,"
The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier today. "Among those who tested were Tut star Avan Jogia, Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending), Jack Lowden (who will be seen in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming war drama Dunkirk), and Noah Silver, one of the stars of TVs Tyrant."
The film is set to start production next month and the target date for theatres is July 20th, 2018.
Alita is a creation from an age of despair. Found by the mysterious Dr. Ido while trolling for cyborg parts, Alita becomes a lethal, dangerous being. She cannot remember who she is, or where she came from. But to Dr. Ido, the truth is all too clear. She is the one being who can break the cycle of death and destruction left behind from Tiphares. But to accomplish her true purpose, she must fight and kill. And that is where Alita's true significance comes to bear. She is an angel from heaven. She is an angel of death.
