It's been quite a couple of weeks for My Hero Academia. The manga just surpassed 100 million copies in circulation, Season 7 is ready to premiere on May 4th, and the first of four recap episodes has been released.
In just a few months, the anime's fourth film — My Hero Academia The Movie: You're Next — will debut in Japan. The second trailer for the upcoming film was released this week, introducing a new villain into the series.
"Dark Might" may be the new antagonist, but as it turns out, he's voiced by a very familiar person. As revealed by Crunchyroll, voice actor Kenta Miyake, who voices All Might, is also playing the additional role of Dark Might. It's fitting because Dark Might appears to be the dark doppelganger of the former Symbol of Peace.
My Hero Academia The Movie: You're Next is directed by Kenji Nagasaki with a screenplay by Yosuke Kuroda. Kohei Horikoshi serves as chief supervisor and author of the original work and character designs, with Yoshihiko Umakoshi providing the character designs.
The upcoming film is scheduled to debut in theaters in Japan on August 2, 2024. There's no release date for North America yet, but seeing as how the previous films hit theaters in the West, it's likely that You're Next will do the same.
In the meantime, fans of the My Hero Academia anime series can look forward to Season 7, which is set to premiere on May 4th. The new episodes will air at 2:30 a.m. PT / 5:30 a.m. ET on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
But before then even, we have the brief recap series, My Hero Academia: Memories. This four-part mini-series will recap the "epic moments of the series thus far." The first part was already released on Crunchyroll this week, but the remaining episodes will debut on April 13, April 20, and April 27.
The entire My Hero Academia anime series, plus its specials and movies, can be streamed entirely on Crunchyroll. The synopsis for the anime reads:
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
Seasons 1-4 also just arrived on Netflix if that's you're a preferred streaming platform.
