Last week, the cover for volume 17 of the Blue Exorcist manga was released and it revealed that a new anime season was in development. Well, volume 17 went on sale today in Japan which revealed additional information about the new series, which is officially titled, Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Impure King. The manga also confirmed a 2017 release date but didn't specify what season the show would premiere.
There's also cast interviews available on the show's website (sadly, they're region-locked for Japan only). The website also reveals that the second season will have a new director and script supervisor, however the lead character designer from season one will return.
The Kyoto Impure King arc begins in the fifth volume of Kazue Katō's manga.
