During Genshin Impact's Version 3.1 Special Programme, developer HoYoVerse announced plans for a brand new anime based on the video game. A three-minute concept trailer was released alongside the announcement, showing off the art style and general feel of the project.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action RPG that originally released in 2020. It's set in the fantasy world of Teyvat which is home to seven different nations, each tied to a different element and ruled by a different god.

As Genshin Impact itself is inspired by anime, an adaptation of the video game feels natural. The concept art shown in the trailer is breathtaking as we get glimpses of the various landscapes of Teyvat.

"Let's step into this vast magical world of adventure together!" the description alongside the concept trailer reads. Check out the concept trailer below for a first look at what the project could look like.

Animation for the Genshin Impact anime will be handled Ufotable. The Japanese animation studio has worked on several other game-related projects include anime adaptations of God Eater and Tales of Zestiria the X. Both are based on Bandai Namco properties.

Genshin Impact joins a growing list of video game properties to be adapted into animated series in recent years. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime based on CD Projekt Red's sci-fi video game Cyberpunk 2077, hit Netflix this week, while Arcane, an animated series based on Riot Games' League of Legends, debuted on the streaming service last year and took home an Emmy win earlier this month for Outstanding Animated Program (the first streaming series to win the category).

HoYoverse didn't announce a release date for the Genshin Impact anime but given that this is just a concept trailer, it will probably be quite some time until actual episodes are released. The developer referred to it as a "long-term collaboration project" with Ufotable, suggesting we could be looking at more than just a single anime adaptation of Genshin Impact.
