Netflix already has a number of anime projects in development on the streaming platform but the world's biggest streaming platform has just added two more exciting projects. It was recently announced that an anime series based on the Tomb Raider video game series and an anime series based on Kong: Skull Island are in development.
According to the official NXonNetflix account the Tomb Raider anime will be set after the events of the recent reboot trilogy from Crystal Dynamics. The tenth installment in the Tomb Raider franchise and the first game in the reboot was released in 2013, followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018.
Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island was released in 2017 as part of Legendary's MonsterVerse cinematic universe which also includes two Godzilla films. Kong and Godzilla are set for a showdown this March in Godzilla vs. Kong, which will be released simultaneously in theaters and HBO Max on March 31.
These two projects join a list of in-development Netflix anime that includes Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil, Pacific Rim, The Division, Devil May Cry, Cyberpunk 2077, Godzilla: Singular Point, and a fourth and final season of the fan-favorite Castlevania anime.
