You can't actually watch The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf on Netflix just yet, but the streaming platform already has a placeholder page for the project up which reveals some interesting information about the project- the film's runtime. Unlike the live-action series which focuses on the adventures and romances of Geralt of Rivia, the anime spinoff will focus on Geralt's mentor, Vesemir. A young Vesemir was teased during the final episode of the high fantasy drama, voiced by Divergent actor, Theo James.
The synopsis certainly doesn't reveal a hole lot but the placeholder screen shows that the film will seemingly have a runtime of 1 hr and 21 minutes. Nightmare of the Wolf is currently slated to drop in 2021 but there's no word on the precise release window for the film. It likely depends on when filming on season 2 of The Witcher wraps as our earlier coverage states that Nightmare of the Wolf is reportedly going to bridge the gap between season 1 and season 2 of the surprise, hit video game adaptation.
Production on season 2 of The Witcher has been marred by several setbacks related to COVID-19 and injuries to Geralt actor Henry Cavill.
In addition to season 2 of The Witcher and the anime film, Nightmare of the Wolf, Netflix also has a live-action prequel series in development titled The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set 1,200 years before Geralt's time as a sword-wielding monster slayer. The prequel will tell the origin story of how Witchers were created.
