Attention Aggretsuko fans! Netflix has announced that the new season 5 will officially be released on its worldwide streaming services on February 16th. With a new trailer, they introduce a new main character known as Shikabane. This season is expected to merge everything from politics, music, and a little (or not so little) dose of mayhem.
Just like clockwork, the Aggretsuko series has normally come out with a new ten episode season each year, and season 5 is no different! Netflix describes the new season this way:
Take a peak at the new trailer for Season 5 below!
"The "Aggretsuko" series depicts the daily life of officer worker Retsuko, who copes with her frustrations with her boss, co-workers and the world by belting out death metal. In this season, after Haida quits his job, he is forced out of his apartment that is owned by his parents and begins living in an internet café."
New to the series? Here's some information for you:
Retsuko, a 25-year-old single red panda, works in the accounting division of a Japanese trading company. She makes an effort to deal with the common issues faced by young adults in 21st-century Japan. Retsuko vents her frustrations at the aggressive superiors and coworkers she deals with every day by singing death metal at a karaoke bar every night.
Retsuko's sorrow leads to a series of events that end up affecting her life in unanticipated ways after five years of enduring the daily grind, putting her career in peril, and pushing her to change her relationships with her coworkers.
After that, she keeps thinking of ways she could be happy and eventually decides that she would like the more traditional route of being married and start a family in the future. Unfortunately, she frequently finds herself in more difficult situations than she anticipates while chasing her dreams due to a combination of her social anxiety and naivete.
In Season 4, the protagonist Retsuko received less attention on the show than did her coworkers, who each had their own distinct set of issues.
The upcoming Season 5 of the show will primarily center on Retsuko's involvement with the Japanese government and her bid for a seat on the National Diet, as well as Haida's life following his resignation from his office job and his eviction from his parent's apartment, and his meeting with Shikabane, a gifted artist who is gaining attention in the show.
