New SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO Project Announced

A sequel to Space Battleship Yamato 2199 has been announced that will be released in 2017. Read on for additional details on Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love.

Earlier today, Bandai Visual released a teaser for a sequel to the 2012 remake of the 1972 anime, Space Battleship Yamato.  The new project will be titled Space Battleship Yamato 2202 and like its predecessor, will be released in Japanese theaters as a 7-part film series before airing on TV in traditional anime format.  Each of the 7 film installments will contain roughly 4-episodes worth of content.  The first film is scheduled to be released on February 25, 2017 for a two-week limited run in Japanese theaters.  It will also be availed for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD at theaters where the film is screening.   

Nobuyoshi Habara, storyboard writer for Space Battleship Yamato 2199, is directing.  Harutoshi Fukui, is writing the script.  Check out the teaser video below.
