Though anime fans were initially disappointed to learn that
Attack on Titan season 2 would only consist of 1 cour (12 episodes), the returning anime adaptation covered a TON of source material from the manga. Even better, it seems
AoT fans won't have to wait four years for season 3 as the next season will arrive much quicker than season 2.
A short teaser trailer was also released from Funimation, featuring colored panel scenes from the manga (naturally, these include some
spoilers) that also reaffirmed that the third season will premiere in 2018.
As foreshadowed in season 2's OP and ED, it seems season 3 will see Eren, Mikasa and the rest of the Survey corps venture into the sea. One would think that would cut down on the number of direction the Titans could attack from but we'll have to wait until 2018 to be certain...

Season one of Attack on Titan aired from April-September 2013 for a 25-episode run. It adapted the first 8 volumes of Hajime Isayama's award-winning manga. The first season was then truncated into two compilation films, which were released in 2014 and 2015.
A second season was confirmed back in November 2014 and given an initial premiere date of 2016, however, before long, it became obvious that WIT wasn't close to meeting that date.
