AnimeJapan 2024 was filled with exciting announcements and reveals. I didn't think it could get better than all of the big announcements from Netflix, but then the My Hero Academia stage event brought us a brand new trailer for the upcoming seventh season for the anime.
Season 7 is shaping up to be the most intense arc yet and this latest trailer gives us a taste of what's to come. The upcoming season follows the story of the original manga series, covering the "Star and Stripe," "U.A. Traitor," and the first parts of the "Final War" arc.
Star and Stripe, America's #1 Pro Hero, arrives to fight Tomura Shigaraki by All Might's request, while Deku's confrontation with Shigaraki escalates.
The trailer also features the new opening theme, performed by TK from Ling tosite sigure.
Prior to My Hero Academia Season 7's debut, fans can tune in to four recap specials titled My Hero Academia Memories. These specials will air on April 6, April 13, April 20 and April 27, and will lead into the new episodes of Season 7 which begin on May 4.
For Season 7, Kenji Nagasaki, the series director, will take on the role of Chief Director, while Naomi Nakayama will helm the director's position at studio BONES. Yusuke Kuroda remains responsible for the series composition and scripts. Character designs will be crafted by Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, and music will be composed by Yuki Hayashi.
Those looking to get into the series for the first time can find My Hero Academia streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu. It was also announced this weekend that Seasons 1-4 will be coming to Netflix on March 25th. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes is also coming to Netflix on that date.
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not enough to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies.
In addition to the upcoming seventh season, the fourth original film -- My Hero Academia The Movie: You're Next -- is scheduled to release in Japan on August 2. There's no word on a U.S. release, but Crunchyroll has usually helped bring the My Hero Academia films stateside.
