Fresh on the heels of their Pokémon Go Safari Zone event in Dortmund, Germany, over this past weekend, Niantic announced a very special event happening from July 6th (tomorrow) going on until July 31st, where trainers can capture a special 'Summer Style' Pikachu or Pichu (no word on if the later will only be from eggs). There will even be special Pikachu themed items for trainer's avatars, if they achieve the corresponding Pikachu themed medal.
This is shortly followed by their first ever Community Day Raid, featuring one of the original trio of legendary birds, Articuno! Trainers that take part in these raids, will have a chance at capturing a shiny version of this pokémon, for the first time ever. As of this post, all over legendaries who have had their shinies released, also were reported of having a 100% success catch-rate. The assumptions from the community are that it applies to Articuno as well.
Within the same post as the Pikachu announcement, Niantic also announced that their new Special Research tasks will be releasing soon, allowing players the opportunity to catch the 2nd mythical pokemon from the Pokédex, Celebi!
"We've heard so many amazing stories from Trainers, and we can't wait for what's on the horizon. We're excited to announce that Special Research on the Mythical Pokémon Celebi will be available globally in the near future. So stay tuned, Trainers, and get out there and GO!" -The Pokémon GO team
