Mixi Co., Ltd. made the announcement over the weekend at AnimeJapan on their plans for the project Rinkai!, which is centered on the world of women's cycling! Along with the announcement a preview trailer and character visuals were released to give fans more details to hold onto until it is released!
Check out the trailer now!
The project is described to be based on the sport of women's cycling and when it made its debut in Japan shortly after the end of World War II. However, competitive organizations for the sport ceased operations after only 15 years of existence. After many years have passed, the Rinkai League has finally arrived to revive it.
On top of the trailer being released, we were able to meet the two main characters for the series, Izumi Itō and Nana Hiratsuka!
Umino Kawamura (the thirteenth actress to play Sailor Mercury in the SeraMyu musicals) voices Izumi Itō.
Izumi Itō takes up the sport despite being a newcomer. She increases her leg strength by training on the city of Itō's mountain roads.
Azusa Aoi voices Nana Hiratsuka
Nana Hiratsuka is a prodigy who graduated early from her training program and now aims to be a top cyclist. She's the city of Hiratsuka's double threat, skilled in both matches and races.
Kiyoshi Yamane is going to turn the project into a manga later on this year, and it will be made available through the Manga Bang! service when it is finished. In addition, an anime version is also in the works! The series, which will be created by MIXI_ANIME, will be the company's second original production overall. (the first being the Masami Obari-directed short for transforming castle-robot project Oshirobots).
