We have some exciting news about a new anime series in the works! The launch date for the television adaptation of Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsud (What God Does in a World Without Gods) by Aoi Akashiro and Sonsh Hangetsuban will be in April, the show's staff said on Tuesday.
The opening theme music "I Wish" will be performed by Rin Kurisu, and the closing theme song "Steppin' Up Life" will be sung by Akari Kit, who plays Mitama. We will post the videos for these songs once they are officially released!
The anime will be starring:
- Junya Enoki as protagonist Yukito Urabe
- Akari Kitō the god Mitama
- Kana Hanazawa as Aruaru
- Sumire Uesaka as Shiruriru
- Sho Fujisawa as Roy
- Megumi Ogata as Kuren
Yuki Inaba (Non Non Biyori Nonstop episode director) will be directing the anime at Studio Palette, with Yoshifumi Sueda (High School DxD Hero) credited as supervisor. The writer of the anime's original manga, Aoi Akashiro, is in charge of series writing for the anime. Kaori Yoshikawa (The World's Finest Assassin chief animation director) will be designing and illustrating the characters.
The protagonist of the manga is Yukito, who is the heir to the controversial head of a cult. Following an untimely demise, he is reborn in a universe devoid of gods and religions of any kind.
Akashiro and Hangetsuban debuted the Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudō manga in Hero's Inc.'s Monthly Hero's magazine in May 2019. After the final issue of Monthly Hero's was published in 2020, the manga's publishing was transferred to Comiplex. On November 29th, Hero's Inc. released the sixth collected book volume of the manga series.
On November 25, the author Tokisada Hayami released the first volume of a spinoff manga titled Kaminaki Sekai no Onee-chan Katsud (What My Older Sister Does in a World Without Gods).
