Based on the critically acclaimed manga series from Kumiko Saiki, Studio Pine Jam's Kageki Shoujo! TV anime is set to be released in Japan on July 3. Check out a brief teaser trailer below.
The original manga series was first published in 2012 in Shuiesha's Jump Kai manga magazine and concluded in 2014 after two volumes. A sequel series titled Kageki Shoujo!! (with TWO exclamation marks) was started in 2015 and remains ongoing, with 10 volumes released to date.
LA-based Seven Seas Entertainment holds the North American English-language license for the series and has released the first series as an omnibus, under the title Kageki Shoujo!! The Curtain Rises.
In Japan, the ongoing sequel manga series was nominated for Best Shōjo Manga in Kodansha's 44th annual Manga Awards this year, but lost to Robico's (My Little Monster!) Our Precious Conversations.
