For over two decades, Charizard has remained one of the most popular pocket monsters in the Pokémon franchise. A big influence was the Charizard that Ash "trained" in the anime, as it was the most powerful member of his team for quite some time.
That remains the case in Pokémon Go, largely in part due to the fact that the shiny version of Charizard is arguably even cooler than the normal palette. While a shiny Charmander appears with a golden color, Charizard features a black color scheme that is complimented well by the Dragon-type features the creature boasts.
Getting a shiny is actually a lot easier than it may seem, at least when it comes to Community Day events. The thing is, the more of the same creature that you capture in a row, the more likely you are to encounter a shiny version of that Pokémon. And on Community Day, there are basically unlimited spawns of whoever is featured, and in tomorrow's case, that would be Charmander.
Below is the official announcement from Niantic regarding the upcoming festivities.
This month's Pokémon GO Community Day is sure to be a hot one. On October 17, between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone, Pokémon Trainers will have their hands full catching Charmander—with a chance of obtaining an elusive, golden Shiny Charmander!
Evolve your Charmander into a Charmeleon and your Charmeleon into a Charizard during the event (or within two hours of its conclusion), and your Charizard will know Dragon Breath, a Dragon-type Fast Attack.
To help you on your quest to glory (and maybe a Shiny Charmander), some bonuses will be running throughout this Community Day. For the duration of the event, you'll earn three times the Stardust for catching Pokémon, and each Incense activated during the event will attract Pokémon for three hours.
A special Charmander Community Day Special Research story will be available in the Pokémon GO shop for US$1. Plus, the Pokémon GO shop will also be offering an October Community Day Box, featuring an Elite Charged TM, three Super Incubators, three Star Pieces, and 30 Ultra Balls for 1,280 PokéCoins.
Happy catching and evolving!

It appears Mega Evolution has made its way to Pokémon GO! It was observed in some regions, including the Kalos region, that certain Pokémon could reach an additional Evolutionary stage and gain incredible power for a limited time in battle. This became known as Mega Evolution. After some research, Professor Willow has documented some notable differences in how Mega Evolution works in the world of Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO is available on Android and iOS. October Community Day 2020 will take place on Saturday, October 17th, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm local time.
