During a live stream earlier today, Square Enix and Koei Tecmo unveiled a new Dragon Quest mobile game. Although there is no release date for Dragon Quest Champions, applications are presently being taken for a closed beta test that will take place from February 6-13. Dragon Quest Champions is a melee battle RPG that is currently being developed for iOS and Android smartphones in Japan.
Applications for participation in the beta test can be submitted until the 29th of January, with a total of 20,000 individuals being admitted and evenly distributed between the two platforms.
On Wednesday, Square Enix and KOEI Tecmo made the announcement that a new Dragon Quest game, Dragon Quest Champions, will be joining the series. The mobile RPG featuring close-quarters combat will first be available for iOS and Android devices. During a presentation stream, Square Enix showed off some of the game's gameplay (the real stream starts at about 30:40 below):
The game will be offered for free, although in-app purchases will be available if players so choose.
The Heroic Martial Arts Tournaments are the focus of the narrative and are held to celebrate the heroic legacy of the past. The male or female protagonist who competes in the tournament, his or her manager Elmia, the cheering Healslime Homit, a competitor named Zelam, and a commentator named Dralin the Dracky are some of the characters.
In the Tournament Mode, there can be up to 50 players competing against each other at a time. The story mode has a bunch of quests and is available for single player.
The production of the game is being handled by Takuma Shiraishi. Tomohiko Sho, of KOEI Tecmo, serves as the company's chief director. On December 9th, the video game Dragon Quest Treasures was made available for the Nintendo Switch.
The characters Erik and Mia from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age play a key role in this game. The adventure game concentrates on the younger years of the siblings and revolves around treasure hunting. The game's development team mentioned that the game is a "non-traditional " RPG.
"The Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age was released for the Nintendo Switch in September of 2019. In December 2020, the game was made available for purchase on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and personal computers (PC) through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. In July of 2017, the original game was released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo 3DS.
