Attention fans of the author of Fullmetal Alchemist, there's a new anime in the works that you will want to keep your eye out for! Following the initial announcement that was made in October 2022, the official Twitter account for the Hyakusho Kizoku (Noble Farmer) manga series written by Fullmetal Alchemist author Hiromu Arakawa confirmed today that the TV anime adaptation of the series is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX and BS Asahi in July 2023.
The author drew inspiration for the autobiographical manga from her own life experiences. She came from a farming family that operated a dairy and field farm and was raised in Tokachi-city, which is located in the prefecture of Hokkaido. She remained there for seven years after graduating from an agricultural high school before beginning her career as a manga artist.
It was initially published in installments in the Shinshokan magazine Un Poco throughout the months of December 2006 and March 2009. After the magazine's publishing was halted in June of 2009, the content was moved to another journal by the same publisher called WINGS. Seven volumes of tankobon have been published in Japan up to this point, with a total print run of over three million copies.
