Japanese manga artist
Hiroyuki Shoji died in the Nara prefecture on Thursday afternoon according to local police. Their investigation concluded that Shoji was cycling along and fell off his bike while in the middle of a steep elevation change. Shoji was believed to have not worn a helmet and police inspected his bike and found no signs of contact with a motor vehicle.
A passerby noticed Shoji lying facedown, bleeding from his head around 9:50 PM and contacted the local authorities.
Shoji began his career at 19 in 1997 with Koroshi no License, which won him the coveted Chiba Tetsuya award. Over the next 4 decades, he would have a number of notable series published in one of the many Kodnasha magazines though none of them ever received an anime adaptation.
