Per Deadline, Universal's acquisition of Dreamworks back in August has led to renewed development on the live-action
Voltron front. David Hayter, who wrote the screenplay for
X-Men and
Watchmen (and also voices the English language dub for Solid Snake and Big Boss in the Metal Gear video game series) is reportedly writing a fresh script. Universal is said to be waiting on a finished script before deciding whether to green-light the project but the success or failure of Lionsgate's live-action
Power Rangers film will surely factor into their decision.
In the meantime, you can look forward to
season 2 of the Voltron Netflix animation series which is set to release all 13 episodes this January.
