The Aztec culture is about to get the spotlight shone on it with a brand new Crunchyroll original series titled Onyx Equinox! Borrowing a ton of elements from the anime that they typically stream, Crunchyroll is offering something new and exciting with this new show.
Announced even before the Crunchyroll Virtual Expo that happened earlier this year, the show is being handled by creator and showrunner Sofia Alexander, who has been able to shed some light on the show's content and direction. In terms of content, Sofia stated, “Viewers of 'Onyx Equinox' can expect an adult story, both in terms of on-screen action and the themes we tackle throughout the series. We're going to journey with Izel as he is forced to save a world he doesn’t believe he has a place in, coming face to face with both the darkness in the world and within himself."
To help drive that fact home, a brand new "dark" trailer has released that showcases the level of violence that et show can offer, so much, so there is even a content warning in case there are any younger viewers. Crunchyroll has even offered up a breakdown of some of the characters with little factoids about each of them that can be seen below.
