Doraemon is a classic children's character made famous in Japan and created by Fujiko Fujio back in 190. Since then, the robotic cat from the 22nd century and his best friend, Nobita, have been going on many adventures through time and space.
It was recently announced that a new CG film (Stand By Me Doraemon 2) would be coming to theaters in Japan but was sadly delayed from its initial release to November due to COVID-19. The new film plans to take elements from a previous film in the franchise while also implementing some new ideas and story beats that fans will undoubtedly find exciting.
Two new voice actors were also announced as apart of the cast, ahead of the film's release! The first being comedian Bakarhythm (Hidetomo Masuno), who is a salesman named Nakameguro that sends sites from the future department store to Doraemon and TV announcer Shin'ichi Hatori, who will voice one of these items from the store called the substitution rope.
The excitement from both the fans and the cast of this film can be heard from any outlet, and that means that when it releases, it will be an incredibly fun and heartwarming adventure. We would love to hear your thoughts on the new film and casting in the comments below!
The film's story will largely be based on the franchise's 2000 film Doraemon: Obāchan no Omoide (Doraemon: A Grandmother's Recollections) but will add original elements, including the love story of Shizuka and Nobita that was also present in the previous Stand By Me Doraemon film.
Stand By Me Doraemon 2 will hit theaters in Japan on November 20th!
