It looks like there's another hilarious anime series on the way, as two new promos for Studio Blanc's adaptation of Gaku Kuze's Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan (Uramichi Oniisan)comedy manga series have been released.
The manga follows Uramichi Omota, who appears on the fictional "Maman to Together" children's program as an ever-smiling, upbeat children's exercise instructor but in reality, he's a beanie wearing, chain-smoking unstable pessimist. The first promo is a general teaser for the entire series while the second focuses on Omota. Expect more character promos to be releasd in the coming weeks ahead of the show's July 5 release date.
The anime was previously slated for a Fall 2020 release but was delayed to "production issues" likely associated with COVID-19.
Nobuyoshi Nagayama is directing the series at Blanc, from a script adapted by Touko Machida. Mizuki Takahashi and Yusuke Shibata are teaming to design the characters while Kei Haneoka serves as music composer.
Since the manga's launch in 2017 as a digital series, it has won several awards and honors and was licensed for North American distribution back in November 2019 by Kodansha USA.
Uramichi is a 31-year-old host on a kids' show who leads exercise routines and teaches life lessons colored by one main theme: Adulthood sucks. Alongside mascots played by a couple of bushy-tailed twentysomethings and a singing duo whose music embodies the notion of being kicked while you're down, Uramichi wades through the misery of working life, one sardonic comment at a time...
