Suzume No Tojimari, the working title of Makoto Shinkai's next highly anticipated anime film, has a new trailer and artwork. We also have the Japanese theatrical date!
Animation studio CoMix Wave Films and STUDIO released the teaser trailer over the weekend, as well as a new piece of key artwork, for the upcoming film. I've included both below, so make sure and check them out!
Shinkai's previous two films, Your Name (2016) and Wathering with You (2019) both garnered blockbuster status and international acclaim. Based on the teaser trailer below, Suzume No Tojimari is sure to join his previous two films when it lands in Japanese theaters November 11th, 2022.
The poster that was released in conjunction with the teaser trailer features Suzume standing in front of a door holding a small wooden chair in both hands, looking as if she's about to depart on her journey. Where does the door lead and what adventure awaits Suzume when she steps through? You'll need to check out the teaser trailer, which only gives a hint as to what the upcoming film has in store for her.
Suzume No Tojimari (working title) is directed by Makoto Shinkai, who also handled the story and screenplay. It is being produced by CoMix Wave Films, and STORY, with Toho handling distribution.
Suzume No Tojimari Synopsis: 17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob…
Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.
