Ok, we knew that Hello Kitty had been made into thousands of different products, but this one takes the cake -- an Osaka department store has sold a 1.6" platinum figurine of the Sanrio character, dressed in a queen's outfit and studded with 250 diamonds, for $102,000. The figure was created as a celebratory product for the character's 30th anniversary, which is being observed this year. A spokesman for the Mitsukoshi department store, which sold the figure, declined to give Reuters any details on the purchaser other than that it was a person from Osaka.
