The Spring 2021 anime season has kicked off with a bang, thanks in part to an already record-breaking fifth season of My Hero Academia! MyAnimeList.net (MAL) has reported that 146,902 users added My Hero Academia Season 5 to their "Watching" list in the week since the first episode, making it the site's most-watched TV premiere of all time.
With five shows from Winter 2021 taking up half of the spots in the top 10, as well as the previous top three, it's quite the achievement for My Hero Academia, especially seeing as how Season 4's premiere fell short fo where Season 3 landed in 2019.
Funimation begun streaming the Japanese simulcast episodes of My Hero Academia Season 5 last month (March 27th) in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, United Kingdom and Ireland. No details yet as to when to expect the SimulDub (i.e. English dubbed episodes). They are said to be arriving after the Japanese broadcast as the cast and crew are hard at work creating them and making up for lost time due to COVID-19.
The rivalry between Class 1-A and Class 1-B heats up in a joint training battle. Eager to be a part of the hero course, brainwashing buff Shinso is tasked with competing on both sides. But as each team faces their own weaknesses and discovers new strengths, this showdown might just become a toss-up.
My Hero Academia Season 5 is currently streaming on Funimation with new Japanese episodes landing each week!
