Hayao Miyazaki
semi-retired from anime films back in 2013 in order to focus on what initially drew him to the otaku scene - his desire to create manga. In a recent NHK special dedicated to Miyazaki's five decade career, the celebrated creator revealed that he will make one last film, but instead of it being in distinctive, traditional 2D style, it will be entirely CG.
Initially, the project (titled "Kemushi no Boro" or Boro the Caterpillar) started out as a CG short for the Ghibli Museum but Miyazaki became so passionate about his creation that he presented plans for a feature-length film back in August. He estimates that it would take him 5 years to complete the project, putting Miyazaki at the ripe ol' age of 80-years-old at its completion. Another scenario Miyazaki envisions is completing the film in 2019 and releasing it just before the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
