Because the Games Done Quick charity speedrunning marathon for the summer is right around the corner, it is officially time to start looking ahead to the next event in the Games Done Quick series of speedrunning competitions. Summer Games Done Quick 2023 will run from May 28 through June 4 and will take place in person at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minnesota. The event will also be televised online via Twitch. The full program for the event has been published.
There are a number of noteworthy events that you should center your week around, one of which being Bubzia's speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild while blindfolded and at any percent. This game is presently being played as a bonus game. Over the course of this action-packed week, there will also be an any% glitchless run of Elden Ring performed by Mitchriz, an eight-person relay race for Super Mario Maker 2, and a great deal more in store for participants.
The event that will take place this year will be organized in support of Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières, an organization that offers "medical assistance to people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, and disasters all over the world." One hundred percent of all donations will go to the cause itself.
Over $2.6 million was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation as a result of this year's flagship event, Awesome Games Done Quick 2023, which took place from January 8 to January 15 and ran from this year. A record amount of $153,352.28 was raised for the Malala Fund as a result of the all-women speedrunning marathon Frost Fatales 2023, which took place from February 26 to March 4.
